On 20 May in Thessaloniki, Greece, Nicolas Schmit had a long and fruitful meeting with representatives of platform workers in Greece. At the meeting, people who deliver food and services with their scooters and bikes shared with the PES Common Candidate insights from their daily working lives. Nicolas Schmit reiterated that it was socialists who pushed for the EU platform work directive and other improvements for workers in the gig economy. The common candidate also met with representatives of the platform workers’ trade union, including the president of the trade union Theodosis Skerletis and the vice-president Valadis Papadopoulos.
